Use the Silencer to Stay Stealthy

Stealth is one of the most important skills that you will learn at the start of the game. Most of the time, there is no need for you to open a fight with guns blazing.

There are certain times that you will just need to stealthily come from behind and eliminate a target without causing any fuss.

The best way to do this is to use a silencer on your handgun. At the start of the game, you’ll have a few weapons options, one of which is a handgun.

You’ll also be able to have customization options for your handgun so make sure to purchase a silencer beforehand. Use your handgun for sneak attacks and use your other weapons if you find yourself having to deal with a crowd.

Make Friends with Animals

One thing you’ll notice in Far Cry is that the game will test your wits. You’ll need all the help that you can get and sometimes it is best to rely on our furry friends to do some of our biddings.

Take the road down to Rae-Rae’s Pumpkin Farm and you’ll encounter a stray dog named Boomer as a quest. Finish that quest and you’ll earn the dog’s loyalty.

Boomer will be able to assist you in many encounters like fetching new weapons or even stealing them from your enemies. He can also join you on stealth missions and whenever he loses health, just rub his belly and he’ll regenerate his health back.

Explore the Entire Map

After a few missions, you’ll begin to notice that the world of Far Cry is open for exploration. There are some areas that might be off-limits due to skill level or aggressive mobs but most of the time, the map is open to be explored.

There are three regions on the map that are controlled by lieutenants.

Pick an area where you want to explore and stick with it until you’re able to complete all the missions in the region as well as defeat the boss. Once done, you can move on to the next.

The best way to determine which region you want to do next is to explore each one and carve your destiny in the game.

Earn More Skills Points Through Challenges

Skill points are necessary to improve your skills. If you find yourself wanting more skill points, you might want to look further than just doing missions. Challenges are the best option to help you earn more skill points.

These challenges are often unlocked when you complete certain achievements in the game. You can find them listed on the main menu and it will reward you with tremendous amounts of skill points.

Go ahead and try a few challenges to see if you’re able to unlock more skills. Then, you can use those skills to complete more challenges to gain even more skill points.

Skip Story Missions

In most games, you are obliged to finish all the main story missions to progress in the game and move the story forward. Far Cry also has similar mechanics but the game can be very lenient with its story missions.

There are times when you do get to complete the story missions and move on to the next. But if you do find yourself having difficulty with finishing them, you can simply skip it and start a new one.

The game won’t stop if you leave a mission behind. Don’t worry too much about spending a lot of time trying to finish a certain mission with very difficult objectives

However, it also pays to finish story missions so try to balance it out.

Craft Items Before Heading Out

Speaking of missions, it is very important that you arm yourself with weapons before heading out to complete them. There are a lot of missions waiting to be completed in the game and most of the time, you’ll use different weapons for different situations.

Try to craft items such as Molotov and other explosives to make a grand entrance especially if you’re dealing with a lot of cultists.

Crafting in Far Cry doesn’t take a lot of time so make sure to have some weapons at the start then load up on them if you’re halfway through your inventory.

Talk to the People

There are times in the game where several key points in the narrative can be uncovered through the people that you encounter.

Certain missions would want you to find a specific person and the best way to do this is to talk to the civilians or any person that you encounter within the area.

They will most likely reveal the exact location of such an objective or even help you unlock new points of interest in the map.

It pays to be friendly to the community so be sure to check in with the folks that you encounter now and then.

Don’t Try to Save Everyone

Most missions in Far Cry have very similar objectives. In most cases, you want to save civilians from cultists however, this might not be the case for every mission.

You might be tempted to save all of them but not every civilian that you encounter needs to be saved. Of course, saving them is the goal but if you find yourself having to deal with a lot of cultists, it is best to sacrifice some of them to save yourself.

You won’t be able to save the rest if you’re dead so apart from the early missions that require you to save civilians, you don’t need to save all of them. You’ll just need to save some to get resistance points needed for the region.

Look at the Signs

You’ll notice as you explore the many areas in Far Cry that there are a lot of signposts. These signposts are not randomly placed in the area.

They often either warn you of certain dangers or give you the information of a specific point of interest in your mission.

Always make sure to check out the signposts as they are far more reliable in giving you the information that you need especially when you want to find someone or try to pin down a certain location.

Loot Your Enemies

Whenever you take down an enemy, don’t forget to loot their bodies. You might find some precious resources needed for crafting or some cash that you can spend later on.

Keep on looting for these crafting materials so you can save your cash from buying ammo.

Use the cash that you saved to purchase medkits instead so you can top off whenever you’re in trouble.

Finish Side Missions

Side missions are often very fun to take, especially if you want to explore the world more.

These side missions don’t contribute to the main story of the game but they can often reward you with special prizes such as unique weapons and vehicles.

If you want to progress in the game faster, try to squeeze in some time to finish some side missions to earn these rewards

You’re better off having more weapons and better vehicles to travel with and finish missions effectively.

Practice Headshots

As with many other action-oriented games, you always want to make sure you dispose of your enemies as quickly as possible.

The best way to do this is through headshots. Practice headshots as early as possible.

Well-placed headshots can make quick work of your opponents especially when you’re dealing with VIP cultists that will require a lot of effort to take them down.
