Cetrion

Cetrion made her debut in Mortal Kombat 11, serving as the game's Story Mode sub-boss and tertiary antagonist. She is an Elder Goddess who is Shinnok 's sister and counterpart and one of the deities charged with banishing him to the Netherrealm. She is also the daughter of the keeper of time, Kronika.

Cetrion can manipulate earth, water, fire, air, and light, according to her will. She forms large boulders against her opponent, making her known for being especially fond of manipulating the Earth.

She can discharge shockwaves, blast beams of water, fire pure energy, incinerate opponents from below, and unleash tornadoes that move fast. In addition, with her plant appendages, she can summon metal blades and attack opponents from afar. Her set of moves is based mostly on zoning.

Geras

Like Cetrion, Geras made his debut as a playable character on Mortal Kombat 11. He is a loyal and powerful servant of the architect of the destiny of the Universe, Kronika. He also possesses god-like power and the capacity to manipulate the sands of time.

His time-control includes being able to stop it, teleport, rewind, and replay his recent actions. By stopping the flow of time, Geras can interact freely with his opponents who are unaware of his next move.

However, his most notable attribute is his impermeability to death. As a "fixed point in time," he can recover within minutes, if not seconds, from all sorts of wounds, even fatal ones. Geras has passed away thousands of times, but he comes back stronger and wiser each time.

Liu Kang

Liu Kang is one of the series' most popular and accessible characters. He is one of the greatest warriors in the Earth realm, having defeated many to prove his courage. After becoming champion after the first Mortal Kombat tournament, he was gradually portrayed as the principal hero throughout the series.

Liu Kang possesses incredible agility, acrobatic ability, and martial arts, although the latter is common. It is suggested that Kang meditates regularly intending to increase and maintain such strength. Liu Kang hardly seems to be aging due to his recurring status as a champion of Mortal Kombat.

As the fireballs sometimes form dragon-like shapes, he appears to have some control over it and has even used the element for finishers. He also possesses a degree of shapeshifting and is capable of becoming a Chinese dragon. In addition to his fiery projectiles, he has other element-related abilities.

Sonya

Sonya Blade, General of Earthrealm Special Forces, is a beautiful, stern, tough-as-nails general. She is a headstrong woman, and yet she genuinely cares about the lives of her friends and comrades, despite all her stubbornness and pride.

She has the power to fire and manipulate pink energy (in MKX, the ability doesn't seem to be magical in origin, but rather an effect of using a high-tech weapon). She can gain temporary flight or at least the potential to maneuver in the air.

Her abilities are vast, basing mostly on agility, and deadly and impressive brought by her training in the Special Forces. She is very quick during fights, using rapid and accurate kicks and strikes. She also incorporates gymnastics into some of her movements, such as Cartwheel Kick and Scissor Split.

Conclusion

Through this list, you can discern the best characters worth picking, based on a dedicated community's opinion of the game. This is a purely subjective guide, though, and the last say is always yours.

Note that all characters are workable, and it is up to you to make use of special moves that can make a character better suited to your play.
